Course Description: The clinical milieu is greatly influenced by the cultural zeitgeist and the forces that shape the lives we live and the choices we make. With suicide a leading cause of death of young people; with mass shootings occurring more than daily; with cyber-predators and bullies threatening the most innocent; with big business targeting kids with bubble-gum flavored vapes and whiskey shots resembling gummy-bears—who is protecting our children and how are these actions affecting attunement as well as attachment at home and in the clinical setting? Enhance your personal and professional awareness and design skills for more strategic interventions.
Objectives:
- Explain the relationship with attunement and emotional regulation skills.
- Describe the clinical complexities created by the cohort effect.
- Describe two dangerous myths related to suicide.
